Ted Talk Reflection

Ted Talks were great! We went over everything that happened during our 20% time journey. We brought the finished tablet in and everyone was impressed. We go an A+ and went home feeiling great because we finished the tablet at 11:30 the night before. We haven't quit finshed our programming and configuring on the tablet but we will blog about it when we do.

The Parts Are COMING!!

Finally we have found funds for the project! My dad and caleb's dad have decided to build a multitouch screen for the raspberry pi. We have ordered the parts and they are coming this week. We will be thoroughly working on it over the next 4 weeks.

Ted talk Preperation

As of right now we are currently working on our ted talks. A ted talk is a when you stand up on a stage and just talk about something important. We basically talk about what we have learned with our 20% time experience. We have to do good or else it will hurt our grades.

Checkpoint Assingment

No we haven’t accomplished what we set out to do. This is because we did not get the right products from our products needed to complete that part of the project. We have much success.
Our success is figuring out another way to use the PI. We are doing this by making a retroPie gaming system. We have also attempted to make a tablet but Mr. Eckert  ordered the wrong parts.
Failing to make a tablet is one of our failures. This is because Mr. Eckert ordered the wrong items. We have also attempted to download retroPie, but our first attempt failed.
My blog is also something we have done. With over 15 posts we have a lot of information. My link is
We have made a case for the touch pi but unfortunately we weren’t able to finish the tablet.
The hardest part of our project was formatting the sd card. We used a full list of instructions these can be found at
In the next three weeks we need to download retropie successfully and get it running so we can use it as a gaming console. We will do this by finding a sd card that’s class will work in a Pi, then go to the tech lab and download it with the help of Dr. Heisel.

The tech lab has helped us a lot on this project. Recently they downloaded retropie and and helped us format the disk. This was something we didn't know how to do so we had to ask the tech lab for help. Hopefully we will have a working arcade system when this project is up.

Tech Lab

The tech lab is the perfect place for us to work on project we were there earlier in the project. We will attempt to download the retropie software for a second time then we will ask for advice because they own two of their own Pi's.

Setting Up The Screen

The 2nd screen has come and we have setting it up. The screen has lit up but we still don't have the right os for the tablet we haven't really done much since the last post so we still have to download the os this will be a short because of that reason.

RetroPie Concept

Well as you all know from my recent posts we didn't get what we needed for the touch pi. So now we are going to make a 3 inch lcd retropie device. What is that you may ask. It is an os that has multiple emulators allowing you to play retro games. It will hopefully be as easy as downloading it onto an sd. Then you will have to format the disk and you're ready. This will hopefully be completed in the next few weeks. We will Posts when it is.

Idea Showcase

Idea Showcase was great. We were entertained by other groups and parents suggestions. We felt confident in our teachings and overall had a great time. Next we will make the tablet and start programming.

Trading with the malon

Well our stuff came from the grant but, it appears that what don got isn't going to work. We ordered a 7 inch lcd, and 3 inch for a plan b. Both of those haven't worked so, we had to go to plan c. This was using conner (the malon's) monitor he also got from the grant as a plan c. All in all that didn't work so now we are running out of money and items to use. This will be our last day working on this because i'm going leaving.

Grant Was Shipped!

Finally! The grant we have all been waiting for has come. These past few weeks have been waiting. We didn't really have the items to work on our project but now we do. All we could do was just blog, about what you might ask. Nothing! But times have changed and the grant was shipped. We didn't get all that we were looking for, but we still got one thing. An LCD 7 inch hdmi display. I will put a link to the item below. We have also ordered a smaller 3 inch display if this one doesn't work out.

Shout Out to Donors Choose for helping us out link will be below

Waiting it Out

Well the 3D printing didn't go as planned. We have been talking to two eighth grade teachers, Mr. Dempsey, and Mr. Rambach. They said that the best bet would be to wait for the grant to come. To see if our 3D print would be up to scale because you never know. So as of right now we are waiting for the 3D print and figuring out how to download windows 10 os.

The Problem

We have identified the problem why the cases don't match. We figured out the case and lid we printed were to small. Rather than just waiting we have emailed an eighth grade teacher. he is printing the things we need.

Re-Printing and Finalizing

Right now we are going to reprint because we printed the frame in the wrong size. It was to big and couldn't fit in the case. We also sent in a grant to Mr. Eckert for all of our supplies yet. We just got back to school so we couldn't do much.
